Bob Singer: A Storied Career
Bob Singer is an animation artist, character designer, layout background artist, and storyboard director of animated television programs. Working for over 65 years, Singer has created a body of artwork remarkable in its range and creative excellence.
Singer was born in Santa Barbara in 1928. After graduating Los Angeles' Art Center College Of Design in 1955, the young artist entered the fledgling Los Angeles television animation industry, working for Marvel, Hanna-Barbera, U.P.A. Pictures, Shamus Culhane, and Warner Bros. But it was with Hanna-Barbera that Singer left his mark, working there consistently for over 27 years. Singer was the founding creator of Hanna-Barbera's design department, Layout department head, and later became art director of publicity. His most memorable work was on The Flintstones, Jonny Quest, Scooby-Doo, Yogi Bear, Droopy, Tom and Jerry, The Jetsons, The Smurfs, Richie Rich, and the Harlem Globetrotters cartoons.
