Mary Blair: Original Concept Paintings

Great American Ink has released several significant works of art by the artist Mary Blair from our archives. Mary Blair first gained recognition at Disney Studios with her vibrant concept art for 1945’s two South American features, Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros, followed by 1948’s Melody Time and The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad in 1949. Blair’s concept art for a trio of animated fairy tale classics- Cinderella (1950), Alice In Wonderland (1951), and Peter Pan (1953)- may be her best-known work.

A Rare Gustaf Tenggren Piece

Little Hiawatha original

Gustaf Tenggren is best known for his concept and design work for Pinocchio, Snow White, The Old Mill, and other Silly Symphonies shorts. Tenggren also did a small number of production backgrounds for a couple of Silly Symphony shorts, most notably Little Hiawatha. This is one of those very rare production backgrounds by Tenggren.

Bob Singer is an animation artist, character designer, layout background artist, and storyboard director of animated television. It was with Hanna-Barbera that Singer left his mark, with memorable work was on The Flintstones, Jonny Quest, Scooby-Doo, Yogi Bear, Droopy, and Tom and Jerry cartoons.
